A steady supply of calcium helps them molt successfully, harden their new shell quickly, and stay protected from injury or dehydration. Without enough calcium carbonate, isopods may suffer weak or incomplete molts, leaving them vulnerable and shortening their lifespan. In captive setups, offering sources like cuttlebone, crushed eggshells, or calcium-rich stones ensures they get what they need to grow strong, reproduce well, and thrive in their environment.
